![]() ![]() Dead Space's enemies are almost universally humans who've been physically and/or mentally transformed by a sort of spiritual pandemic, which is very much in line with the enemy origins in a souls game, where the madness of the world often affects the player character too in some way. This could allow for organic shortcuts and easy mental mapping required by a souls-like. Dead Space's world suggests spiralling, interconnected areas that mix historical and fantastical elements and which tell stories about their occupants. ![]() The dismemberment mechanics of Dead Space could add a twist to typical Souls combat that sets it apart from similar games, allowing for more enjoyable yet balanced crowd control whilst providing more uses for a diverse moveset. The environmental storytelling and unreliable narrators of a Souls-like could help reinforce this confusion and growing horror in the player. Dead Space has twisted, expansive and eldritch lore that is misunderstood or deliberately misinterpreted by factions in the story.I think there are many elements from each series that complement each other: I would love to see a reboot of Dead Space that takes influence from Dark Souls or Bloodborne in its presentation and gameplay. ![]()
